View RecordsSeparate Montgomery County jurisdictions, compare Texas clerk searches with Maryland case information, and identify the record you need before requesting copies.
The Texas District Clerk and Maryland judiciary offer different services. Use the state and court shown on the case paperwork to select one. These examples do not assign all Montgomery County records to Texas or Maryland, and a court search does not automatically provide the background-check product an organization requires.
| Route | Useful output | Important restriction |
|---|---|---|
| Texas District Clerk case inquiry | Information extracted from that clerk’s database | The Clerk says it is not for official use, is not independently verified and may change. Commercial use is prohibited. |
| Maryland Case Search and record access | Case number, dates and type from a case summary | Complete file is held by the clerk. Maryland directs criminal background checks to DPSCS CJIS, not Case Search. |
Maryland says some dismissed, acquitted and nolle-prosequi charges are no longer displayed in Case Search even though courthouse access may remain. Ask the court about the case-specific record.
Sealed, shielded or expunged records are not public merely because you know the number. The clerk can explain the applicable access route; a web search cannot override it.
Ask for the judgment or disposition tied to the charge. A list of charges without a corresponding outcome is insufficient to label each charge a conviction.
Include the state, named court and case number; for an unknown number, provide the party names and approximate filing period as a search aid.
Name the order or disposition and its date if known. Specify whether the recipient requires certification rather than an online printout.
Ask the holding clerk for its copy quote and delivery method before paying. Texas and Maryland fees are not interchangeable. Access guidance checked September 29, 2026.
